The Mary Haitz Band is a premier group who’s roots were formed not in the Mississippi Delta, but in Western New York. This is Blues with a bite! The band enjoys a well deserved reputation for great guitar work, great vocals with refreshing originality at each venue. Blues lovers everywhere will experience an evening of pure enjoyment. The band boasts the talents of “Mr. Light and Tight” Donnie Howcroft on drums, John (Johnny Bluz) Konarski on Rhythm guitar and "the mistress of the low end", Jackie LoBuglio with a lively Bass performance. An exciting feature of the band is the addition of Miles McHugh on lead guitar and vocals, while providing some blistering fretwork indeed! To her credit, Mary has opened for BB King on September of 2000, Coco Montoya in October of 2001 and July of 2002 and was a stand-up-and-take-notice performer for the NYS Rhythm and Blues Festival in Syracuse in the summer of 2000 through 2003. In the spring of 2001, Mary was invited to sit in with “The Nighthawks” in Niagara Falls and brought the house down! Sharing the stage with “Saffire, The Uppity Woman’s Blues Band” at Lewiston New York’s Red, White & Blues Festival, earned high praise for the group from the Blues Beat magazine (www.wnyblues.com). The magazine review calls the Western New York’s Blues Goddess “...a Diva.” Mary is the recipient of the Buffalo Music Awards 2001, “Best Female Blues Vocalist”. She has also earned the coveted 2003 “Muddy Award” by BluesBeat magazine for Best Local Artist, with kudos for persevering in keeping the band alive. "Go Art!" (The Genesee Orleans Arts Council) conferred the community arts award in March 2005 for "Her passionate and spirited blues with a bite". Mary has also had the honor of sitting in with world class drummer Steve Gadd (Eric Clapton, BB King and Paul Simon) at Smokin’ Joe’s in Rochester New York in October of 2000, The Rippington’s in August of 2002 and was invited to sing with Omar and the Howlers. Her latest solo CD released “No Borders” (all original compositions) is available at all venues and on the website www.maryhaitz.com. The Group is also featured on a benefit CD created for Roswell Park Cancer Institute of Buffalo, New York. The group played in Rochester with Shemekia Copeland and with Sue Foley in the summer of 2002.
